Ascendants of Aristophanes. 400 BC Athena. Aristophanes writes one of his most important works. One of the most emblematic political satires in world literature. A comedy that brings women to the fore. It dares to “expose” and exhort democracy, propagating essentially its own power as its simultaneous weakness and vice versa. Women decide to take the reins of the city. With a proud leader, the versatile Praxagoras manage the impossible. Without any revolution. Without any war. Without any extortion … women dress up men and intrude into the Church of the municipality by voting law so that the power of the city passes into the hands of women.
Aristophanes proposes equality, praises democracy, feminist movement for centuries, sets up a near-police scene with backstage actions and confirms that humor and comedy are inextricably linked with intelligence, culture, evolution, with the very city of the ancient Greek cities.
